If it is not significantly damaged, the comforter can easily be washed once a year before being put away; frequent washing is not necessary to keep it fresh. To maintain optimal performance, we recommend shaking the comforter gently and often and airing it out to restore the down’s loft and fluffiness.
If you notice any dust on the surface, we recommend removing it with a soft brush.
- We recommend not shaking the comforter vigorously, to avoid breaking the feathers inside.
- The recommended wash temperature is 40°; medium temperatures help prevent damage to the outer fabric.
- Dry cleaning is permitted at a professional cleaner, provided the care instructions are followed carefully.
- Use mild detergents and plenty of water to make sure all traces of soap are removed.
- Avoid using chlorine-based detergents, which can irreparably damage the down.
- Spin to remove as much water as possible.
- Tumble drying is permitted at medium/low temperatures. We recommend drying comforters outdoors in an upright position. Always keep comforters in the shade to prevent the outer fabric from yellowing.
- Use or store the comforter only when it is completely dry.
- We recommend storing the comforter in a dry place inside a cotton bag. Along with its comforters, Zenoni & Colombi provides a handy dust bag for storage.
- Do not store the down comforter in plastic or vacuum-sealed bags, to avoid damaging the down filling.
