Goose Down Washing Guide
If it does not suffer particular damage, the down comforter can be safely washed once a year before being stored; frequent washing is not necessary to keep it fresh. To achieve better performance, we recommend shaking the comforter often and gently, exposing it to the air to restore volume and fluffiness to the down.
If you notice dust on the surface, we suggest removing it with a brush using a light hand.
- We advise against beating the comforter vigorously to avoid breaking the feathers inside.
- The recommended washing temperature is 40°; moderate temperatures help prevent damage to the outer fabric.
- Dry cleaning at a laundry is allowed, carefully following the washing instructions.
- Use gentle soaps and plenty of water to ensure all soap traces are removed.
- Avoid using chlorine-based cleaners that irreparably damage the down.
- Spin thoroughly to remove as much water as possible.
- Tumble drying at medium/low temperatures is permitted. We recommend drying comforters outdoors in an upright position. Always keep comforters in the shade to prevent yellowing of the outer fabric.
- Use or store the comforter only when completely dry.
- We recommend storing the comforter in a dry place inside a cotton bag. Zenoni & Colombi, along with its comforters, provides a practical dustproof bag for their storage.
- Do not store the down comforter in plastic bags or vacuum-sealed bags to avoid damaging the feather filling.
